Ans: The speaker compare his love in the first stanza with red rose and melody.

Ans:. The promise that he love his beloved till all the seas goes dry. He also promises to love her till the rocks melt with the sun.


c. What imagery does he use in his promise, and why do you think he uses such language?

Ans: He used sea, rocks and sand in his promises. He used these imagery to express his love & promise her beloved that he will love her till the seas goes dry,rocks melts with sun ans sand of life is over.


d. In the last stanza, what event is about to happen by mentioning the number of miles?

Ans: In the last stanza, the speaker used number of miles to say that if they are seperated by any reasons the speaker will still love her & come again to his beloved.



e. Which image in the poem do you find the most memorable or surprising and why?

Ans: The red rose is the most memorable in the poem. The speaker say that his love is like red rose. It is beautiful, vivid and fresh as rose that has just recently blomed. He used red rose to express how deep his love is.

Ans: The given beautiful1ines are taken from Robert Burns's lyrical ballad  'A Red Red Rose' that describes the speaker's deep love for bis beloved & promotes that this love will last longer than human life. In these lines "speaker has. shown his love & promises his love to come again if they are seperated by any cause. The speaker has used ten thousand miles to show that if they are far away from each other but also his love will not be lost and he will come back again to his beloved.

Ans: The poem 'A Red, Red Rose' is written by Robert Burns. It describes the speaker's deep love for his beloved and promises that his love will last longer than human life. The beloved of the speaker is an beautiful as red rose and sweet as music. He has expressed his love with her by the help of many literary devices like sand, rock, seas, etc. The poem is about expressing love. Thus, the them of the poem is how to express our love to our beloved.


c. Paraphase the whole poem into simple prose form.

Ans: In the poem, "A Red, Red Rose", the speaker describes his love to his beloved.He said that his love is like red rose that is beautiful, vivid, and fresh which grow in sping season. His love is sweet as a beautiful song played by a musician.

The beloved is so beautiful that the speaker loves her with a deep and strong passion, infact the speaker's love will last until the oceans will dry.

Even after the seas have earth's know rock is me It evaporated & the earth's rock is melt by sun, the speaker will still love her. This love will endure untill their our lives have ended. The speaker concludesd by saying good bye but promises to return even if it takes a very long time and covers a long distance.

Ans:
Simile:- Simile is a literary device used to compare an object or a person with something else to make the meaning more clear to the readers. There are two simile used in this poem. The first is used in first line, "O my Luve is like A Red Red Rose", here the poet compares his beloved with a red rose. The second is used in third line" O luve is like the melody", and the post compares his love with melody.

Symbolism:- Symbolism means to use symbols to signify idea and qualities, giving them symbolic meaning diffrent from their literal meaning. Robert has used rose as a symbol of love.

Imagery:- Imagery is a distinct representation of something that can be experienced or understood through five senses. Robert has used visual imagery in the poem such as " O my love is luve is like a red, red rose", "And the rocks melt with the sun" and "While the sands o' life shall run."

Alliteration:- Alliteration is the repetation of constant sound in the same line such as the sound of /l/ and /r/ in "O my luve is like A Red, Red Rose".

Assonance:- Assonance is the repetation of vowel sounds in the same lines such as the sound of /i/ in "I will love thee still, my dear".
e. What is hyperbole? Explain its purpose citing examples of hyperbole used in the poem.

Ans: Hyperbole is a literary device used to exaggarate a statement for the sake of emphasis. The poet has used hyperbole in the last lines for the second stanza, "Till a' the seas gang dry". He says that his love will flow even when the seas dry up. The second is used in third stanza, "And the rocks melt wi' the sun".

Ans: Refrain is a literary device used as repetation of word, phase, and line within a stanza.
It is used to create rhythm or melody in the poem. The poet has used refrains as"O, my love is like a red, red rose, That's newly sprung in June. O, my love is like the melody, That's sweetly play'd in tune.".

Ans: Yes, I think love has power. The greatest power that a human possesses is the power of pure love. Love is the most powerful thing in the world. It has the power to heal someone's insivible wounds. It is a felling that make you both vulnerable and strong. It is the only feeliing that give you the courage to sail through the bad times and ill health. It is truly powerful as it gives strengh to fight against the whole world holding the hand of partner. The poet has composed this poem addressing his beloved to show his deep love to her and promises that his love will last longer than human life. c. Poetry is the expression of feeling and emotions.
